Button Usage Log

How to use the Button Usage Log

A step-by-step guide to checking, confirming, and managing panic button battery maintenance in VAS.

InfoApplies to: All VAS subscribers (Classic through Avantgarde)

⚠This is an estimation tool, not a live sensor. Battery estimates are based on logged button activity and require an active internet connection to log accurately. We still recommend a routine physical check of your facility's buttons as a backup.
Before you start: one-time setup required

The first time you open the Button Usage Log, every button in your facility will appear on the list. This is expected β€” VAS has no usage history yet, so it needs a fresh starting point.

  1. Physically change the battery in every panic button listed.
  2. Confirm the change for each one (see Step 4 below).
1
Find the Button Usage Log
  1. Log in to your VAS dashboard.
  2. In the left-hand menu, go to Maintenance.
  3. Click Battery Usage Logs. A badge icon shows how many buttons currently need checking.
2
Understand the battery indicators

Buttons only appear on this page once they need attention. Usage is estimated against a 2,500-press lifespan per battery.

Use the tabs to filter your list

For first-time setup, start on All so you can see and action every button.

All
Every button, including ones you've already changed.
Urgent
Buttons in the 85–95% usage range, or flagged by the 6-month inactivity check.
Recently Changed
Buttons you've confirmed a battery change for recently.
4
Confirm a single battery change
  1. Once you've physically changed a button's battery, find it in the list.
  2. Click the Confirm toggle next to that button.
  3. A popup will ask you to confirm the change β€” click Yes, Confirm.
  4. The button disappears from the active list, and its icon turns green.
5
Confirm multiple battery changes at once

If you've changed several batteries at the same time β€” for example, after a maintenance round:

  1. Use the checkboxes to select multiple buttons.
  2. Click the Confirm toggle.
  3. A popup confirms how many battery changes you're about to log.
  4. Click Yes, Confirm once you're certain all selected batteries were changed.
6
Revert a change made by mistake

If a battery change was confirmed incorrectly β€” for example, if maintenance reported a change that wasn't actually done:

  1. Find the button under the Recently Changed tab.
  2. Click Revert in that button's row.
  3. Confirm when prompted.
  4. The button moves back to the All list as needing a check.
7
Search for a specific button

Use the search bar to look up a button by location name (e.g. "Doctor's Room") if you need to check or action a specific device without scrolling the full list.

8
Export the list for your maintenance team

You can export the current list as Print, PDF, or Excel. This is useful for sending a physical checklist to a maintenance team β€” they can mark off batteries as they change them, then hand the list back to you to confirm on the system.
